The Lollapalloza Festival franchise established in Chicago
as well as in Brazil and Chile had its first live show in Argentina this year
and showed an immaculate production for the enjoyment of all fans.
The show in
Chile was on Saturday march 29th and Sunday 30th, in the
open areas of the O’Higgins Park in Santiago. 6 Stages, 80 thousand of
attendants, and a wide proposal for recycling and ecological sustainability,
thousands could enjoy 12 non-stop hours of live music everyday.
On Saturday 29th, Café Tacvba, gave a 45 minutes
show on which the band played known hits as: “Ingrata”, “La Chica Banda” and
“Déjate Caer”. After them, bands like
Capital Cities and Cage The Elephant.
Capital Cities made the audience vibe very quickly with
their fusion of pop and electronic music on the stage sponsored by PlayStation,
which was going to show The Wailers later that night. Simultaneously, Cage The
Elephant performed on the Claro Stage, the second main stage on the event.
An hour later Imagine Dragons captivated a huge amount of
people, in their 60 minutes performance the band showed why in such a little
time they managed to be the leading band in the music charts in the industry
thanks to their album Night Visions.
After Imagine Dragons were done bands like Wolfgang Gartner,
AFI and Ellie Goulding, favorite of the moment. The festival became a roller
coaster of emotions: some attendants took a walk on the design kiosks on the
festival, others went to the kids area or “Kidsapalloza”, and even went looking
for some Lollapalloza merchandise.
Another band that left a very good impression was Nine Inch
Nails. Execution was flawless and the lights display kept the attendants in awe
during all the show, especially during the last song “Hurt”.
To wrap up the first night of Lollapalloza people could
choose from the three staging presenting Dj Zedd, The Wailers and Red Hot Chili
Peppers; the latter gathering thousands of people during their 90 minutes
performance. Despite the low temperatures that night, fans of Red Hot Chili
Peppers could enjoy songs like “Can’t Stop”, “Otherside”, “By The Way” and
“Californication”. There is no doubt this was the cherry on top.
March, Sunday 30th was the second day of
Lollapalloza Chile 2014, the festival that managed to attract 80 thousand
people on day 1, was ready for another go with a massive organization that
ascertained that Lollapalloza Chile is established as on of the best music
festivals in Latin America and the world.
The Mexican pop-rock singer Natalia Lafourcade showed how
happy and proud she was of being part of this music festival with a beautiful
performance that attracted a big chunk of the crowd. Also that day Portugal The
Man, Johnny Marr and Julian Casablancas made history on that day for being the
first time these bands played in Chile. Although the performance of the latter
was tainted by some technical issues and the voice and guitars were extremely
distorted, disappointing many of the fans on the event. Despite the problems
Casablanca managed to make it up to his fans and kept rocking no matter what.
Another highlight of the night was New-Zealand’s singer
Lorde, songs of her recent album “Pure Heroine” gathered teenagers, teenagers
are Lorde’s biggest fans for now, who sang and felt many emotions during her
performance. When she was done, Lorde was very emotional of being somewhere far
from her home and also was moved and overwhelmed by the fact that her music is
listened in that part of the world.
To wrap up the attendees of the second day of Lollapalloza
2014 were split between the fans of electronic music and rock/grunge; while on
the stage sponsored by LG DJ Axwell had a vibrant show full of beat drops,
striking lighting and hallucinating visuals. On the other stage Soundgarden
performed a 90 minutes set where the uncountable amount of people gathered in
front of the stage to enjoy the band.
During the show you could notice people from different
nationalities and different parts of the world, including children, went to a
massive event to connect and live under one sole motive: Music.
